slide2Here at All Family Dental Care, we are pleased to be able to offer Invisalign® aligners.

As more and more people don’t want to smile because of their misaligned teeth, we have more than one option to help correct their misalignment. Braces are not the only way to get the teeth and smile that you deserve.

Q. How often must I wear my aligners?
Instead, Invisalign® aligners are made for you to be able to take them out. However, if you don’t wear them enough (up to twenty-two hours), you will not be getting the full benefit from them.

Q. Are there any restrictions to what I can eat while in treatment?
Invisalign® aligners can be removed when you are eating and drinking so that you can still eat whatever you want. You won’t have to miss corn on the cob or gum just because you are straightening your teeth. All you have to do is remove your aligners, eat, and then place them back into your mouth. Though you can do almost anything while being treated, we do not recommend smoking. This will discolor the trays.

Q. How do I keep my aligners clean?
It is also important to remove your aligners when you brush and floss your teeth. You should also brush your aligners to keep them as clean as possible. You should brush your teeth and aligners in the morning, in the evening, and after every meal.

Q. Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?
Many people worry that the aligners will affect their speech. However, after you get used to talking with them in, you won’t have any problems with your speech. Many also worry about discomfort with the treatment. You may notice some pressure and discomfort for a few days after each change. This is good and means that your teeth are moving closer to where they need to be.

Q. How often do I see an orthodontist while wearing Invisalign®?
Once you get your Invisalign® aligners, you are going to need to follow up with your dentist every five or six weeks to ensure that the treatment is working and to get any needed adjustments made.

Q. How long does Invisalign® treatment take?
Treatment can take between six and eighteen months, depending on the severity of the problem. No matter how bad your teeth are, treating them with Invisalign® is faster than treating them with braces.

Q. What happens after my treatment is complete? Do I need retainers?
After you finish treatment, we recommend that you continue to wear your retainer at night. It will help to keep your teeth in place, so we recommend using it every night.
